How the Yalla Dzair app handles your data, the permissions it asks for, and the services it uses.
Overview
Yalla Dzair is an iOS language-learning and translation app focused on Algerian Arabic (Dziria). The app offers AI-assisted translation, dictionary tools, saved items, translation history, chat practice, text scanning, voice input, audio playback and optional premium access.
Information you provide
- Text you type for translation, dictionary lookup or chat practice.
- Voice input when you choose speech-to-text.
- Photos or camera images you select to scan text for translation.
- Support messages you choose to send.
Information stored on your device
- Saved words and translations, translation history, theme settings and daily usage counters.
- Voice and speech-rate preferences.
- Premium entitlement status used to unlock app features.
Permissions and device features
Microphone and Speech Recognition
Used only when you choose voice input. Apple’s speech-recognition service turns your voice into text.
Camera and Photo Library
Used only when you choose to scan text from a camera image or selected photo.
Network access
Required for AI translations, chat practice, word-of-the-day requests and generated speech.
Third-party services
When you use online features, submitted text may be processed by OpenAI through our secured Firebase proxy. Text selected for speech may be sent to ElevenLabs through the same type of proxy. Firebase App Check helps protect these requests. Purchases and restoration are handled by Apple’s App Store through StoreKit; Bouiz does not receive your payment-card details.
Retention and your controls
Saved items, preferences and history remain on your device until you clear them in the app, clear app data or uninstall the app. You can revoke microphone, speech, camera and photo-library permissions in iOS Settings. Do not enter sensitive personal information into AI features.
Children and international processing
The app is a general-audience educational tool. Remote service providers may process requests in jurisdictions outside your country according to their own policies.
